Six Years, One Hard Goodbye: A Personal Note from the Founder of Wispri
Hi,
This is one of the hardest messages I have ever had to write.
After nearly six years of building Wispri, I have made the decision to close it on 14 February 2026. I have rewritten this message many times, hoping there might be another ending. But this is the honest one.
Wispri was born from a simple idea: that people should be able to save money on everyday purchases without being tracked, profiled, or turned into a product themselves. No creepy ads following you around. No data being sold behind the scenes. Just a clean, quiet tool that watched prices and helped you buy at the right time.
That belief never changed.
Over the years, thousands of you trusted Wispri. Together, we saved real money—on groceries, pet food, electronics, clothing, and countless everyday items. That impact is not abstract. It was money back in people’s pockets, and that means something. Wispri mattered, and you made it matter.
But behind the scenes, the reality was much harder than it looked. Most people used Wispri for free, while only a small number chose to pay. I understand why free is easy, and Wispri was designed to be genuinely useful even without paying. But as time went on, the costs kept rising. Cloud hosting, infrastructure, security, monitoring, reliability, and the countless hours needed to keep everything running all added up.
I tried everything I reasonably could to make it work.
There were moments when I could have taken shortcuts. I could have sold user data. I could have added targeted advertising. I could have signed business deals that required tracking people’s behaviour. Those opportunities were there. I chose not to take them.
For me, privacy was never just a feature. It was the foundation. And while that choice made the road much harder, it is one I do not regret.
Eventually, I had to accept a painful truth: impact without sustainability cannot survive. Without enough paid users, I could not responsibly keep Wispri running.
To everyone who ever used Wispri – thank you.
To those who paid: you believed in what I was building, and that belief meant more than the subscription itself.
To those who used it for free: you gave feedback, found bugs, shared Wispri with others, and helped shape what it became.
You were never “just users.” You were the reason I kept going on the hard days.
Wispri will remain live until 14 February 2026. No new sign-ups, trials, or subscriptions will be accepted. Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time, and annual subscribers will be contacted directly with next steps. I promise to handle this transition with care, respect, and transparency.
On a personal level, this journey cost more than money. It cost late nights, weekends, missed moments, and personal savings. But it also gave me something far more valuable: perspective, resilience, and a deep respect for anyone who tries to build something honest on the internet.
Wispri may be ending, but I am not done building.
If Wispri helped you, even in a small way, and if you would like to support my future projects or help soften the losses from this journey, you can do so here: buymeacoffee.com/wispri
There is absolutely no pressure. Your trust, your support, and your presence over these years have already meant more than you know.
Thank you for walking this path with me. Thank you for believing in a privacy-first product. And thank you for reminding me that building with integrity still matters.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Ram
